Barcelona 2017

Call for abstracts

We are inviting abstracts for our next annual conference in Barcelona, Spain, 12-14 May 2017.

This is a joint conference between the European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO) and  Consejo General de Colegios de Ópticos Optometristas (CGCOO), and is held aside with the European Council of Optometry and Optics’ (ECOO) Spring meeting. The conference will bring together key stakeholders from over 30 countries to discuss and share the latest research, education and clinical practice in optometry, optics and dispensing, and vision science.

The theme for the conference is “Vision and new technologies”

Abstracts are invited within this theme on any topic or content that can provide delegates with information they can apply to practice, discuss with colleagues, or in any way use to develop their career. This can be approached from two points of view; (i) the impact of technology on vision, or (ii) the benefits derived from the new technologies for diagnoses and treatment.

This could be new research, clinical findings, new technology, or developments in visual assessment, novel ideas for how to move patients through the healthcare system, technological developments for education, or anything else that represents an issue and how to help resolve it. The Academy welcomes any work that has the potential to help colleagues, at a national, European or international level in their professional development.

We are seeking abstracts for:

  • oral and poster research abstracts
  • clinical and education lectures and discussion forums
  • oral and poster case studies
  • clinical workshops and discussion forums

We are especially interested in abstracts and proposals that emphasise what professionals from other countries can learn from your work, and submissions that focus on accreditation, development of professional roles and initiatives to increase capacity to deliver eye care. We also encourage students or newly graduates to present their research or cases form their clinical work.

Prizes will be available for oral and poster presentations.
